Capturing magical wedding photos in rainy weather

How to make the most of wet weather.

Hey lovebirds! So, your big day is coming up, and the forecast is predicting rain! Don’t worry at all! With a little prep time and a positive attitude, you can turn this weather into an incredible backdrop for your wedding photos. Here’s how to make the most of it:

1. Don’t Panic! Embrace the Weather

First off, don’t see rain as a setback. Think of it as a unique twist that can make your wedding photos extra special. Rain can create a magical, dreamy atmosphere that’s simply stunning!

2. Prepare Your Outfits

Make sure you’re dressed for the weather:

- Footwear: Consider wearing boots or cute sneakers, at least for the outdoor shots. They can look super cute and keep your feet dry! or you can just run with wet toes in gorge heels who cares!

- Shawls and Jackets: Elegant shawls, wraps, or fur jackets can keep you warm and add some glam to your look.

- Coordinated Accessories: Scarves, gloves, and hats can be both functional and so sweet!

3. Use Props to Your Advantage

Rain can be part of the fun:

- Umbrellas: Clear umbrellas not only keep you dry but also look adorable in photos!

- Blankets: Cozy up with a blanket for some intimate, warm shots.

- String Lights: If it’s winter, string lights can add a warm, romantic glow.

4. Find Sheltered Spots

Scout for locations that offer some cover:

- Porches and Gazebos: These spots provide shelter and still allow you to enjoy the outdoor scenery.

- Trees and Archways: They can offer partial cover and add interesting elements to your photos.

5. Enjoy the Moments

Some of the best photos come from these candid, spontaneous moments!:

- Laughter: Let loose and have fun in the wintery weather! You’ll laugh looking back, no doubts about it.

- Intimate Moments: Sharing an umbrella or cuddling up for warmth can create some incredibly sweet shots.

6. Trust Your Photographer aka ME!

Your photographer knows how to make the most of the weather:

- Natural Light: Overcast skies provide soft, flattering beauty light.

- Reflections and Details: Rain puddles and droplets can add beautiful details to your photos.

7. Be Flexible with Your Schedule

If the weather is really intense, be open to adjusting your photo schedule:

- Before or After Ceremony: There might be windows of better weather for your outdoor shots, so remain open to change!

- Indoor Options: Have a backup plan for indoor locations where you can still capture great moments. Having a plan B will put your mind at ease.

To wrap up

Rain on your wedding day can make for some of the most beautiful and memorable photos. Embrace the elements, have fun with it, and trust me to capture all the magic! No matter what the weather, your love will shine through, and your photos will be absolutely stunning. Enjoy every moment of your special day folks!

Much love,

Why are wedding photographers so expensive!?

Why hiring a good Wedding Photographer is an invaluable investment!

Hi lovers! So, you've just gotten engaged, CONGRATS! and now you're diving headfirst into the whirlwind of wedding planning. Amongst all the decisions you'll make, one that often prompts a double-take is the cost of hiring a wedding photographer. I mean, why are they so damn expensive, right? Well, lets take a peek behind the scenes to unravel this little mystery for you!

Creativeness and Skills:

First things first, let's talk about the artistry behind wedding photography. It's not just about pointing and shooting; it's about capturing those oh-so-special moments in a way that makes your heart skip a beat every time you look back at your photos. Wedding Photographers spend years perfecting their craft, honing their skills, and mastering the art of making you look comfortable and beauteous! So, you're not just paying for a few snapshots; you're investing in a little bit of magic! that will last a lifetime.

Time Is Money, Honey:

Ever heard the saying, "time is money"? Well, that couldn't be truer for us wedding photographers. Sure, we're there snapping away on your big day, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. We’re meeting, planning and communicating with our clients for months prior to your big day. Then come your wedding day, before the confetti even hits the ground, we're busy behind the scenes, prepping, planning, and scouting out the perfect spots to make you two look like you’re in a fairytale love story. Then comes the editing marathon, lordy! we sift through thousands upon thousands of photos, painstakingly perfecting each one until they’re just right. So, the hours definitely add up! Some wedding photographers spend hundreds of hours on their clients wedding galleries, if not more.

Gear Galore:

Now, let's talk equipment. Have you seen the gear we wedding photographers haul around? We're talking top-of-the-line professional cameras, lenses that cost more than the camera body *weeping (you don’t even want to know how much lol), plenty of lighting gear and not to mention the computing power needed to edit your gorgeous galleries. Oh, and don't forget about backups on backups because, let's face it, technology can be fickle and I want to ensure I’m prepared for anything your wedding day throws at me. So yes, these "fancy gadgets" don't come cheap but they’re worth every penny!

Heart and Soul:

Last but not at all least, let's talk about heart. Weddings are emotional rollercoasters filled with tears, laughter, and everything in between. Documenting those raw, unfiltered moments requires more than just technical know-how; it takes empathy, sensitivity, and a whole lotta love. A good photographer isn't just there to mindlessly snap photos! We're there to tell your love story in a way that makes your heart swell every time you look back at your photos. And trust me, that kind of magic is invaluable.

So, there you have it, folks! The next time you're feeling shocked by the price of hiring a wedding photographer, just remember all the love, sweat, and tears that goes into our work. Because when it comes down to it, you're not just paying for a service; you're investing in memories that'll last a lifetime. And, isn't that what weddings are all about?

How to get the best wedding photos

A brief guide to getting wedding photos that make your heart skip a beat!

Hiya, lovebirds! So, you’re a little nervous but want to get amazing wedding photos? Well, let me share a few tips on how to get the most out of your day, whilst allowing me to capture some of your best memories. From big cheesy grins to smoochy candid moments, I'm here to help!

  1. It's Your Day, Your Way: Repeat after me: "This day is all about us." Seriously, folks, your wedding day is the one day where it's perfectly acceptable (and encouraged!) to be a little selfish. So, forget about Aunt Margaret's opinions on your centrepieces or your best friend's insistence on playing DJ. Today, it's all about what makes you and your partner happy, so don't be afraid to do things your way, even if it's a little unconventional. This mindset shift translates beautifully to camera! a carefree, happy go lucky couple just soaking up the day.

  2. Embrace The Candid Moments: Sure, the posed shots are great and all, but some of the most memorable photos happen when you least expect them. So, PLEASE! don't be afraid to let loose, have fun, and let your love shine through in those candid moments. Whether you're stealing a kiss or busting a move on the dance floor, those spontaneous snaps will be ones you'll treasure forever.

  3. Consider The Lighting: Ah, lighting—the secret to dreamy wedding photos. When scheduling your wedding photos, take into account the time of day and how it will affect the lighting conditions. For example, if you're dreaming of dreamy, soft-lit portraits, aim for a golden hour shoot just before sunset. On the flip side, if you're planning an indoor ceremony or reception, be sure to schedule some time for photos during daylight hours to take advantage of natural light (the best beauty light!).

  4. Trust Your Photographer: Last but not least, trust me, your photographer ;) We folk are in this profession for a reason, so let me work my magic and capture moments for you. Be open to suggestions and just enjoy the ride. After all, this day is all about celebrating your love, and I’m there to help you do just that.

So, with a little mindset shift and a sprinkle of spontaneity, I’m positive we’ll make thoughtfully candid wedding photos, that’ll be treasured!
